What color turtleneck looks good? Mock or not?

I'm considering buying some turtlenecks for casual use. Probably to go with a pair of jeans to wear to the mall, etc. I may wear them alone or maybe underneath a flannel shirt. For those that perfer turtlenecks, what color looks good? Mock turtleneck or full?

I prefer full turtlenecks as opposed to a mock neck. For colors...well that's kind of up to the wearer. I think colors like charcoal gray, brown, tan, dark red, and navy blue would be nice.

the mock t-neck is very 90's looking IMO. I prefer the look of the real deal. I pulled out a black cashmere full turtleneck I've had in my closet for a long time and wonder why I stopped wearing it. My wife loves it on me and it is very comfortable. It is the ideal thing to wear with a favorite pair of jeans.

I like the look of the full turtle neck on others but prefer myself to wear mocks for comfort reasons. Also for turtle necks I prefer darker colors since I generaly only wear them round the winter time and lighter colors don't go as well this time of the year.

I am not a fan of mock turtlenecks. Full, in either dark or light colours works well.

I sell the full better than the mocks but personally prefer the mocks as the full go up to high. Maybe its my beard.

I prefer mock for looks & comfort. I feel choked wearing the full neck. The only exception is when skiing.

I have somewhat of a short, thick, neck (18" collar) so a full turtleneck is uncomfortable on me, and looks bad as well. I do like mocks however, and have a collection in mostly darker colors. They go great with a contrasting sport coat.

Golfers also seem to prefer mocks:

Sometimes a full doesn't look much better:

I'd say full neck in charcoal gray, brown or black.. perhaps even some other colors like dark red, purple.. depends on what I'm wearing.

+1.

Mock turtlenecks are an abomination.

A wise man once said: "Only wear a mock turtleneck if you want to be mocked."
