An unlikely choice between grad school and pop stardom - Page 6

Do the pop star thing!

Opportunities like that don't just happen..

You could always go to grad school if the boy band thang doesn't pan out for you.

Plus, it'd make a good story for your personal statement when you choose to apply for grad school.

Also, you could apply for grad school right now and if you get accepted, defer your acceptance. Most schools allow a year deferral.

Pretty good clue they don't exist.

Has anyone looked over the contract yet? Can someone just pretend to be a lawyer and okay it? Eason, think of how many ppl who will be able to live vicariously through you!

That's not a very critical question to be in a pop group at all!

Haha if you can't sing a lick I think it is. Granted with the software and autotune these days you can make anyone sound halfway decent, but still I would at least sorta know how to sing before joining this "pop group".

That contract is pretty far out. I'm not a lawyer but I have seen other music related contracts although never one for a manufactured pop band. The "work for hire" bit without there being any specified fee schedule or amounts, and the warranties you are being asked to provide them with in section 10 basically mean that you would be at best an indentured servant. They are entitled to everything, you are entitled to nothing. You weren't far wrong when you said that you would be a performing bear. The section on CO-PUBLISHING is also pretty outrageous but I presume it doesn't apply to you ....unless you are a songwriter with an existing publishing deal. Anyway I can see why you don't want to sign it. I wouldn't. I now feel really sorry for the Monkees.
