An unlikely choice between grad school and pop stardom

So, I'd been planning on going to grad school to get my masters in Education Hong Kong part time while working, and that was my plan until, strangely enough, I was scouted to join a Hong Kong based pop-group. There are two asian members and two western members, I'd be the male western guy if I cooperated. The pay isn't great, it pretty much depends on how successful the project is and how much media exposure you get. If I did the music project, I couldn't start my masters degree. I'm 24 now (but will I live to see 25? the way things is going I dunno) and I don't want to put it off too long. Anybody here happen to have experience in such things?

edit:

Haha. That's awesome. You know you have to do it. Then again, don't you have a girlfriend you actually like? That makes the benefits of pop stardom significantly less compelling.

^^ right, I'm not single and I really hope things work out with the girl I have. That's like 50% of the fun right there. Okay, 80%. I've always wanted to learn how to dance, though. You probably know this already, but you don't need to have any singing or dancing skill to be in a pop group, they train you like a circus bear. Oh, and if it tips the scales either way, my stage name would be "Ken".

Pop group without a doubt.

That seals it. Go for it, dude. And start a blog/SF thread updating us about your exploits!

which option keeps you in the country you deeply hate longer?

^^ both options get me the fuck out of China at first, but the pop group would be touring China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and Korea. I don't think I'd mind the traveling but I'm sure it loses it's charm quickly.

Popstar, no doubt. You never know what will happen, and grad school can wait a few years if things don't exactly work out. And for fucks sake, if you join the group, drop the GF, you're too young and would be wasting opportunities if you were in a commited relationship.

i think this will be a good way for you to finally come out of the closet, so go for it

If this is even remotely true, you have to go for it. I would make it a condition that your band be called Lo/Rez though.
