Going to buy one. iPad page is up now on apple.com: http://www.apple.com/ipad/ 10 hours of battery life sucks though.

That's 10 hours in AAPL time.

Here's what they say about the iPhone:

well, he can't control pirating and honestly, music/music industry kinda sucks so they killed themselves. NYT, WashPo etc etc are looking for ways to monetize their content, it's not like they or most magazines are going to get subscriber growth. I use my Iphone for internet and would say that the 5 hours is accurate, if not actually lower than reality.

if yuo have WiFi at home or are at a starbucks, you can use the WiFi for free, no need for a data plan. the reality is, this thing pretty much serves teh needs of 95% of laptop users, other than the occasional foray into Excel/Windows, whatever I do on my laptop I can do on this. Wherever I am.

Starbucks WiFi is free only with AT&T plan, right? And see, that's the problem: everyone has an exception. I'd get this except I'm sure it doesn't allow for BitTorrent. Others will say Photoshop, Logic, gaming...whatever. I think that, in the buildup to the iPad, everyone's oversimplified what people do on their laptops. This thing can't replace a laptop, and it's too big to replace a smartphone. That leaves us at "people who want a third device and have $500 to spend on one." Good for them! Regardless, this thing will sell based solely on price. Or, as Conne put it:

You can't even multi task in these. The question is, those who may want these probably already have a laptop so why buy it? If you already have an ipone and a macbook, whats the point of the ipad? If you have a netbook, whats the point of ipad?
