I think using them for long walks would be a tad anachronistic.

I use Snowdons all the time in cold weather for walking all day. If you have slippery , cold , wet , or bad weather they are perfect.

The BB sale had a boot that looks exactly the same and I will compare them to see if they were the same boot when I am in next.

I've worn these boots all over in wet, slushy and slippery weather, and they only keep getting better. Quick application of Dasco's waxed leather cream (C&J's recommendation), and they are ready for another beating!

Here they are in the wild:

Are Snowdon boots available in black?

CJ catalog shows only one color.

I've just signed up to do a 26 mile walk and I'm thinking of using my Conistons with an extra pair of thick socks. Its either that, a pair of steel toe cap work boots or go out and buy some 'proper' walking boots which I probaby won't have time to break in.

The longet I've walked in them before was 6 or 7 miles and they were perfectly comfortable, not sure if any boots will avoid blisters on a really long walk though?

I've worn my Trickers Grasmere for 20 mile walks over mountains. Did you think they make these boots for costume?

Do you have pics? Should have a nice patina by now. They are very robust, sturdy boots.

I was merely wondering if a traditional style walking boot would be as kind to my feet as those new athletic shoe style walking boots over what for me will be a very long walk. I've pretty much decided to go with the Conistons as I don't think I want to spend any money on a pair of boots I will very rarely use and not like the look of, blisters or not!

Experience usually says that any shoe that is broken in will be more comfortable that one which isn't, even if the new pair are better designed.

Tang - Don't know if you read the sign-up sheet carefully enough. It IS 26 miles - but you won't be walking, you'll be running. It's called a marathon.
