1. How is their "Trim Fit"?

2. Regarding the Norweigan Sweater, is the vintage version superior or is the new version superior? Exactly how baggy are the vintage versions?

I can't comment on the trim fit stuff, but I briefly owned the new Norwegian Sweater and it was about as unflattering a garment as I've ever owned. I wanted, really wanted, to love it--the heritage and material are strong selling points--but I basically looked like a sixth-grade history teacher in it. Just a huge spare tire around the midsection, and if you look at the reviews on llbean.com you'll see it wasn't just me. I can't imagine you'd do worse with a vintage version (and if you find a source on the regular pass it along).

I have both a vintage and recent version of the Norwegian sweater and as much as I want to like it I just can"t get past the ill fit. The vintage one, which I've had for almost 20 years, fits very sloppy during the time i wore it most I wasn't nearly as particular about the fit as I am today. The recent version fits slightly better in the shoulders but leaves a very pronounced "spare tire" effect in the mid-section.

A pity! Thanks for the honest replies.

^ I like the color of those, but the fit is probably not nearly slim enough. At least the rise on those isn't that high.

I guess the thing to do for LL Bean will be to wait for the Signature launch. The problem with that is that I have not liked the actual Rogues' Gallery items I've seen so far AT ALL. Maybe it's because all I've really seen has been what's on Gilt, and it's mostly garbage. The previews for Signature looks decent, though.

+1 on both. I like the pics I've seen previewing LL bean Signature, but the few Rogues' Gallery items I've tried on have fit atrociously.. and yeah the stuff on Gilt has been garbage though isn't that how it is for a lot of the sales on Gilt?

That trash is definitely not my treasure. Plus, there are too many dbs jacking into the site before the sales go live and snatching up anything worth my consideration, so double-trash is all that's left.

Right now, the five-minute entertainment distraction of the guilt sale announcements every noon is just barely keeping me from cancelling my sub.

Yeah, while I don't want to trash talk Gilt- The sales have been really shitty lately. I'll look at the calender and see X, Y, and Z brands that I like, then the sale comes and there'll be nothing remotely decent, and on the rare occasion there actually is- there will be almost no sizes left even when the sale starts (especially smaller sizes).

I'm liking the signature series' hunting boot re-interpretation:

Wonder if you can re-wax the cotton like you can oil cloth...

^^ rewaxing cotton is no problem.

Their fit is very similar to Ralph Lauren custom fit sizing IMO.

I like them but who needs duck boots going into spring?

If true, that would be a godsend.

Not available until March, and are advertised as a S/S item. I still want them...
