I used to be like you. Awkward on the dance floor, afraid somebody would point and laugh. But honestly, 97% of the people out there on the floor do not know how to dance. When it comes down to it, it's just feeling the rhythm of the music and moving to it. Who cares if you look stupid? By being out there, you've already knocked out competition from wallflowers.

i STRONGLY recommend lots of alcohol and possible drug use, from one white male with no rhythm and the same phobia, just do it, once you just say fuck it it's kinda fun, especially with sales associates from opening ceremony hahaha

The way I see it, there are three types of dance.

The Carlton Dance
The Will Smith Dance
The White Person Dance

Choose wisely.

+11111111111111 I'm a drummer and have excellent rhythm but could never really dance. The music of Salsa always felt easy to move to and I started taking Salsa lessons about 6 months ago. It's tons of fun and now I go out to Salsa clubs almost every week. I can dance fairly well and I get to dance with lots of very attractive women who also love to dance. It's a ton of fun! Meetup.com has lots of dance meetups for whatever style of dance that you're into. If you like Salsa, find a meetup in your area and you'll meet lots of people that have a similar interest. At the beginning of every Salsa event they typically have a free hour long beginners lesson and you can learn the basics there. No partner needed.

Can't possibly have said it better. Although dis mon is pushing 32, this advice is relevant to everyone under that age.

If you can have sex you can dance, if its at a club its all the same.

If its ballroom stuff, just stick to watching it on TV

So true. On rare occasions when I go out to such establishments and find myself in such predicaments I just pray nobody recognizes me.
