I can't dance

I never have been able to. Whenever I get on the dance floor (something I avoid at all costs if possible), I feel awkward and surely look a fool.

Could anyone recommend some how to dance videos for me? Preferably something I can grab off a torrent site.

I love that quote, but isn't "folk dancing?" Presumably we are not prohibited from all forms of dance.

It is. I've also heard it as "country dancing".

In all honesty, take a dance class. Don't know how old you are, but if you are young go to a local dance studio and take a beginner's hip hop dance class. If you are older, try ballroom dance. If you aren't too old, you can also learn salsa which is fun and can help you learn to move in general. But seriously, the classes will get you further than an internet video.

That's because you care about what other people think of you. Nobody is looking at you, women are generally happy if they can get a guy off their fat ass to go dancing. Don't sweat it and remember, you've got you're drink & your two step.

I'm 31 and considering salsa.

I agree with this, except that you shouldn't be too concerned about what dance goes with what age group too much. I used to think that I couldn't dance either but I started taking salsa classes and I found that that helped me listen to musical beats better and let my body move with the music. I think as long as you can hear the beat and let your body follow it, you will find that it will come naturally.

I now go out dancing very regularly - and enjoying it immensely - and have learnt other types of dances. As a matter of fact, I'm in the midst of learning the Viennese waltz.

All the best.

Salsa is great, you should really try to find a class though.

Thanks guys, and yes I am white. Which prevents me from being able to align my body's movement with the beats in the music.
