wearing a 20 dollar tie for my birthday

so, one of the sales guys from one of my distributors brings me a tie as a birthday present - I spend a lot of time helping these guys build their sales skills, because it brings in more money for me, but it also helps them out a lot. so some of them really like me. and, in the middle eastern culture it is very acceptable for them to gift bosses. so, I can't refuse it.

so, I pull off my bespoke sam hober tie, and put on this tie. it could be worse, it is a thin solid navy silk tie, so it really could be worse. but I still feel a little strange about it. the guy makes about 12K a year and has kids, so this was a big thing for him. very touching.

on the occassion of his birthday, and fwiw, I'd like to say that Globetrotter here is one of my favorite citizen in sf, with kyle and thomas standing on the other end of the line.
