Third round interviews: thoughts?

I have a third round job interview with the CFO of a large company this week. My first round was with an HR manager; the second round was with the department manager (who would be my boss); the third round is with the CFO of the company. Any ideas about what to expect in this interview? Will it be more of the same from the second round (very detailed questions about skills/knowledge) or something else?

He'll likely go through your resume - for the first time - at your interview and ask you specific questions about the contents. Be prepared to elaborate. Since this is the CFO - he will be interested in numbers - quota/revenue attainment, budget/P&L management, etc. Try to find out his alma mater and do some research on their sports teams, etc. for an ice-breaking comment in the beginning - or anything else this person is interested in. Don't be afraid to ask your new friend - the HR manager - for tips also.

I've had two third round interview situations--both at small law firms. I didn't get either job (definitely happy I didn't get the first one). In both situations the firms didn't hire anyone--it was more of a case of whether they really "needed" anyone in this economy as opposed to whether I was the right choice. So I would emphasize the value you could bring to the company over how you best fit the job. Take this with a grain of salt, as I've never worked for a large company who can probably better anticipate their hiring needs. Good luck!

Thanks - I think they are definitely looking to hire.
