In the U.S. even a clear channel station (see wiki for explanation) (

Shortwave stations are a different story. Grundig used to be the best. Not sure at the moment. But as important (if not more) is the antenna set up you have. If you want obscure stations you need a big-ass antenna. If you just want Radio Moscow, you don't need anything but the regular antenna that is often part of the radio.
Thanks for the feedback. I found out Grundig have been taken over by a Turkish company which has put doubts in my mind over whether they are made in Germany anymore as well as QC.
It sucks when venerable companies get taken over by outsiders. The results are usually a decline in quality and styling.
They do have a retro looking digital radio model which is cool looking, but does not pick up AM stations just FM. Not sure if this is the norm with the new digital radios released.
If anyone listens to the radio these days and has any other suggestions please advise.
