Matt beats his ass for two and a half weeks - Page 11

Oh, man. Sorry to hear that, Matthias. Keep us updated with your progress when you can.

it's kind of sadistic to punish yourself with no alcohol. its not bad to drink in moderate amounts. maybe put a limit like 2, 3 drinks on the weekends only as reward for good behavior during the week

Looks like I'll be kicking my own ass as well after living too well for too long: 2 and a half months in Paris = 10 kg weight gain Plan for the next two weeks, before I leave for London: Walk to asics store first thing after class tomorrow to buy running shoes (left mine in Aus ) Alternate between 5km run in luxembourg gardens and 30 minute skipping session in apartment every day Adhere to the "is this shit?" diet, skewed towards mainly vegetables (jesus/allah/buddha give me strength, for I am weak) The only time beer is allowed is if Arsenal is playing, limit is one I think I can do 5 kg in two weeks

what are you doing in Paris Mick? what takes you to London? Care to document out your progress with me here, Tubby? Anyhow, gym this morning, ran, weights, bag work.

basically successful today. Beat my ass at the gym. Ate healthy-enough all day (fried rice, a fruit salad, Korean BBQ). Drank all water other than 1 OJ (fresh squeezed, no sugar), and an ice tea. Had a Diet Coke when spblady and I went and met friends for an after-work drink, cheated slightly, but those ones are inevitable, and at least I kept the calories out. 27 hours survived

I'm going to drop 6 kg in the next 3 weeks. Doable for me. I used to have to cut weight and eat clean to make weight for matches, so I know the drill. The workouts will be no problem. I run no less than 4 miles a day, and do lots of plyo, some weight training, as well as kickboxing (can't really do BJJ right now due to knee injury.) It's the diet that is going to be the problem, but I dropped 2 kg over 2 weeks just cutting out my usual "afternoon cake." We'll see how this goes. Have recently added a big core component to my workout as well...

Have been meaning to do the 'working holiday' thing for a few years now. November last year a cousin asked if I wanted to go on holiday for a month with him; decided it was the kick up the bum I needed - quit my job, got a 'youth mobility visa'; then travelled Europe for a month. Decided to come back to Paris for a bit before settling in London; 'a bit' became a month, then two, then the 3 months allowed . Back to the real world soon. Food today: B: banana, some almonds, some chickpeas, tea. L: beetroot, fennel, black radish and boiled egg salad. D: lentil and Swiss chard soup (made way too much, will be next few meals ), green tea. Meals arent my problem, I cook almost all of them, they're healthy. It's the "oh, haven't been to this bakery/patisserie before" several times a day . No more. Exercise: 3 hours of brisk walking, half an hour of skipping, broken up with push ups and crunches.

I was damn good today.

Cycled to work (~6 km each way). Elevator was being repaired, so walked up 4 floors twice. Went to a meeting at a 5* hotel where lunch was supplied in the buffet...I kept it to roast fish and some sushi and a baked potato. Serving free flow Coke, but I had to ask for water. Everyone else at my table piled up desert, I abstained in an exercise of crazy restraint. I order an espresso, and it's fucking served with a giant ass chunk of cake, just to torment me further - but again, I was good.

Decide to walk back to the office - about 3km. Bicycle home again. Go to boxing class, arrive early, so did weights (which is a bad idea if you don't want to get beat up) but did them anyhow. Have shower, notice that I have a black eye, further proof that weights before boxing is a bad idea.

Dinner was fish and rice.

Home, friend is launching a CD so we went there, drank Diet Coke and dodged all other urgings of my friends. SPB Lady is currently regretting tequila shots in my bathroom, but I'm clear headed.

I did good today. Lots of exercise and lots of temptation avoidance.

^ discipline personified. Did 2 laps of the park (~3km) first run in 4 months, first non treadmil run in over a year. Meals were soup, soup and soup. Met some friends tonight, ended up having 3 beers. Have to learn how to nurse them.

still tracking pretty good..... Friday night did a yoga class, then kinda half my bag routine (got kicked out of the room as a class was starting), so did a run. Ate probably the worst thing I had all week - bangers and mash at a bar - but it was, in all honesty, the healthiest thing on the menu, so I am not being too hard on myself over that. Drank water the whole time. Lunch was a beef stir fry, we also have a Friday afternoon office thingy every week, was sushi this week, so I was good. Drank water all day. Saturday - gym. Did five bag rounds (to make up for the night before) and weights. Rode bicycle to boy's lunch, where I ate a chicken wrap and - again in a display of extreme restraint, ate only solitary french fry (if I'd known it was served with a side, I would have changed it for salad, but it came with a sizzling pile of golden brown french fries in a desperate attempt to mock me). Drank banana smoothies ("no sugar please") and rode my bicycle right back home again afterwards. Dinner with spb lady was bun thit nuong, drank ice tea. Met the guys for drinks in the evening, stuck to Diet Coke all night. Sunday - breakfast was an omelet. Thinking Thai for dinner...taking a day off the exercise (been chilling at the pool for the past couple hours, had a massage this morning, great Sunday actually)...going to the gym 7.30 tomorrow morning anyhow, so a rest day has been earned.
