Can a person who is fat consider themselves a foodie?

Yes, I know it's not pc but it's something I believe. I don't think anyone that is fat can consider himself/herself a foodie no matter how supposedly good their taste are....

Agree or disagree.... I want un-pc answers!

Most people today are fat because of McD's, not an overindulgence of foie gras. That, plus the fact that part of being a foodie is the realization that flavour can be maximized through smaller bites makes a fat foodie unlikely, though still possible.

I suppose a sufficiently-committed foodie might dedicate themselves so extraordinarily to the art that they lose all opportunity for non-masticular exercise?

aight yo here's my thoughts on the matter: shouldnt "foodie" denote some sort of tendency to discriminate against bad food so maybe a lucky foodie (i.e. one that's always around good food) would be fat, but the majority of them should not

Funny that you should bring this up. I was watching the American version of Iron Chef the other night and thought that the fat male judge should not be up there. I don't know if it's just fat bias on my part or the fact that he slurps everything and just appears to be very sloppy.

An appreciation of fine food does not require the avoidance of bad food. IBDT.

You people are all idiots.
And the term foodie is stupid.

goes a bit far in my opinion.. if the foodie in question doesnt exercise and has a desk job he will get fatter. At which point this goes to far and it becomes overindulgence I dont know.

I've noticed that people who enjoy fine dining, and who do it often as a hobby, are often thin, never overweight. I can't recall ever seeing an overweight patron in those restaurants.

On the other hand, I once went to a Brazilian restaurant where lots of meat is served continuously until the servers are told to stop. The restaurant was full of overweight people, many of whom appeared to be morbidly obese. I doubt any of those patrons would consider themselves as foodies.

What does one thing have to do with the other? Plenty of the world's top restaurant critics and chefs are fat, but they are undoubtedly "foodies," whatever that means...

I absolutely hate the word foodie, just as much as I hate the "food blogger" that wants to be a restaurant critic.
