A new car for <$22k

I can't believe I have to ask for car advice on a forum like this but I did a search for some car forums and I couldn't find one that was a general car discussion so there would probably be some biasness in there.

Anyway I'm 16 and I will start driving soon and my sister has a RAV4 and my mom said she'll buy another car for us. I want it to be more of a sedan and I want to drive a stickshift/manual transmission because my sister wants to try driving one too.

So what's a new car I can get for $22k? Don't try and convince me to buy used because I know you guys love buying used shit at thrift stores but my mom has said she will NOT buy a used car.

If you didn't feel like reading any of that

What's a good stickshift sedan type car for a beginner to drive?

And if you don't like answering, where's a good car forum that's dedicated to like general car discussion or maybe dedicated to driving with a stickshift?

Get a used (with a warranty) car. You're a fool not to, especially if you have a budget.

There's nothing wrong with used cars. Get something from a certified pre-owned program, it comes with a warranty just like new car. Plus you'll be able to get a much nicer car (like a BMW 3 series).

In your price range: Honda Civic; VW Golf, Jetta or Bug; Ford Focus; SMART Car (those don't have true manual transmissions); Toyota Yaris and Matrix; Nissan Sentra SE-R, Hyundai Accent, KIA Forte Coupe

Hmmmm A brand new camaro with a 300hp v6 and a stick will run about that. It will be a base one, but it looks good and has most of the right equipment.. 2011 Ford Mustang V6 will be around the same price and similar specs, but probably lighter.. I can't think of a brand new car in the same price range that would be more fun.

I read your post, but it still needs to be said. Try to come up with a reason to convince your mom. I can't think of a good reason to buy a new car for your first car.

Anyway, this took 5 seconds:

My mom will give me the 'it's not your money it's my money' type of talk. Also it won't really be my car but more like a family car that they'll let me drive so it's still her car. I've tried to convince her many times because I told her I'm not comfortable with driving a brand new car but she insists that we don't buy a new car. We've had a couple of bad experiences with buying used cars so please respect that. And yea I looked over that list but I can make 0 sense of it... That's why I asked for help.

Next time I'm not gonna mention I'm 16.

My grandmother drives a Civic. The Fit is what the Civic used to be.

Screw off and drop dead until mommy stops buying your diapers.

+1. Or an insight.

Get a Golf... great 1st car. I think you might even be able to get the GTI in that price range, and that just won Automobile Car of the Year.

If you didn't state your age and still insisted on getting a new car, we'd probably think you were retarded.
