Black shirts

post #1 of 23
Thread Starter
I know that most people here does not like black shirt.
But is there some situations when a black shirt is okay to wear?
I wouldn't use it with a suit, but I sometimes wear it with jeans...

I would say they are appropriate in a nightclub, or if you're mixing with the sort that values tasteless, brutal brand name purchasing-and only after 6 oclock. The situation I have in mind is heading off to the 40/40 club with your bro who's wearing a purple Prada shirt and blackest Kenneth Cole Dress shoes.

My ex thought my black shirt suited me the most and would really turn her on and we would have sex almost everytime I would put it on before we would leave my dorm to go out (while I had it on; yes I christened it); and then after we came back. My point? If you feel you look good it and the opposite sex agrees (im assuming this is what you are ultimately going for), I highly doubt she will hold an internet forum whos population is largely male into account regarding how attractive it makes you look!

This guy commits two style forum sins (Black shirt and Black Suit) and bangs Angelina Jolie;

I can't think of any.

Black shirt with jeans is totally fine for a casual night. It's funny that anyone would think there's a rule that any color shirt with jeans would be inappropriate.

I have to wear all black for most pit orchestras and all-baroque or new(er) music concerts. Some orchestras (New World Symphony) have an all black dress code for their concerts. Not my cup of tea, but it's supposed to look less stodgy I guess.

I used to wear black shirts in the late 90's and early '00's but it became a cliche and the anti-black movement began in 2003 or so. It became the thing that everybody wore poorly.

Seven years later, I suppose if you have a great fitting black shirt then sure, try it.

I have a few midnight navy shirts for clubbing / nights out that do the trick and look richer than black, IMO. Maybe it's just my internal SF conscience nagging me, but I can't buy an all-black item anymore. Shoes aside, my wardrobe contains basically no black. Even my tux is midnight blue.

I have one that I love. Most on people hate it. People in real life love it.

I think this is a good option.

I thrifted a nice black shirt a while back but was too scared to wear it, so gave it away to a friend that is still into nightclubs after age 40, figured it was perfect for him.

Loves it, probably the nicest shirt he has.

I'd stay away from it if I were you. Or go the other way and unbotton the top 4 and throw a few gold chains on.
