Tenth Anniversary Gift Suggestions - Page 7

Much depends upon whether you and your wife feel that the gift must be something material or whether it might be an experience to be remembered. If an experience whether it would be for the two of you alone or shared with others. Below are some initial thoughts ... will try to follow with aditional ideas.

Experience to include friends and family …
  • Rent a small restaurant for dinner … Quince comes to mind. For a larger brunch ... perhaps the Wente Winery dining room.
  • Rent a nice B&B for the weekend -- Harbor House in Elk comes to mind -- to include a special dinner or lunch. If you prefer inland … perhaps Chateau du Sureau with dinner at Erna’s Elderberry House.
  • Host a dinner & bonfire on the beach in Carmel. Find a nice cove to set up table & chairs. Our host even brought in a chief to prepare paella … but one must be discreet in the chef arrangements as “commercial” affairs are not allowed on the beach.
  • Have a sleepover (camp out with sleeping bags) at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Our host brought in Tracy Jardine to cook dinner … and the chef (name escapes me) from the Getty to cook breakfast. After dinner a representative of the aquarium gave us a behind the scenes tour … then at 11:00 departed leaving us alone to enjoy the public areas of the aquarium. I elected to camp-out before the kelp forest … and toward morning moved near the glass wall of the community tank.
  • Rent Runnymede Sculpture Farm (Woodside) for a day … and arrange to have a catered lunch brought in.
Experience for the two of you… (After all, you two are only at your tenth ... as for the above ... remember ... I'm past 25 of these now ... including others is desirable).
  • Head to Hong Kong & book a window table at Aqua (Japanese Italian Cuisine) during the hour of the city-wide laser light show. "Princess Leia, this way!" For a nice lunch maybe a table on the verandah at Repulse Bay.
  • Make Venice the destination and book a lunch and/or dinner at Cips Club and/or Fortuny.
  • Spend a week at a private beach resort in the Maldives.
  • British Airways Sleeper Suites to Christchurch, NZ (the long way ... via London, Singapore & Sydney) ... with a drive around the South Island.
A material gift for you…
  • A custom briefcase from April in Paris
  • Cufflinks and matching studs.
  • A painting for your study or office.
  • Commission a musical instrument (harpsichord perhaps) if you are musically inclined.
  • A Jaeger LeCoultre Sun Moon Reverso … or a Reverso with solid back to be engraved or enameled with something personal.

Congrats on your tenth.

If it is to be material, I'd second the idea of custom cuffllinks. I think you have fairly good ties into the arts community, so perhaps a commission by an artist of whom you're a particular admirer? Either new or a recreation of a piece that has special significance for you.

I would like to have a mini me. If your wife can track down a small handsome man that is fully rubinacci clad and Ivy league educated you could have your own mini me. I know Vox has one (he even got him a little mountainbike, the baller!)
