Quoddy Fall/Winter 2010 - Page 4

Im moving to DC in August and I want a boot I can use when it starts to rain and possibly snow there. My first instinct was to just get an LL Bean bot http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/35487...tn&cat4=505557 http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/33172...tn&cat4=505558 But then I thought Quoddy might make something. http://quoddystore.com/catalog/produ...products_id=41 http://quoddystore.com/catalog/produ...products_id=44 Im not really clear on why those two shoes cost anything different, but would those work for DC weather? I realize DC isn't ridiculously rainy but I want my feet to remain dry if it does start to rain. Im not a big fan of the big hunk of rubber on the grizzly boots but the new vibram soles which will hopefully come out soon look pretty reasonable.

Most moccasin sewn shoes aren't particularly water proof--the crepe wrap is but the upper is not, necessarily. Step in one deep puddle and you'll end up with water in your shoe. And although it's not likely to happen again, DC got a hell of a lot of snow last year. I'd recommend a genuinely waterproof shoe for real weather--a hiking boot maybe if you're going to walk a lot; the Beans are good but I wouldn't want to wear them all day.

Thanks Quoddy for these bad boys! Collabo w/ 3sixteen (only 20 produced), released through epaulet. There pictures don't do them justice so here ya go...

PS - I want a pair of those peanut coloured quoddy's too! I wasn't even aware of the company when they were released...but love the colour and the contrast of the dark laces.
I've seen better pics of those too..seems like the brown is a lot darker.

This was a really great feature thread of quoddy!! This thread swayed me to get the grizzly boot with crepe sole. Ordering as we speak...

Ok, Jeff, have you received yours yet? I just bought a pair from Jlpowell, didn't get them yet, but was curious if you have comments.

I am really liking this "Muleskinner" chukka. Trying to determine what color pants they would go best with...

A few other of my own shots attached. Year's passed.

I wish you could order a brown leather chukka with a Vibram sole on their web site.

Email them and ask - they'll tell you to add your personal specifications in the comments box of your order.
