This is written under a different name than that of my usual forum identity.
Over recent months, maybe from a year ago, I have started feeling a real need to change my job and life direction. Maybe this has been prompted by hitting forty, but it's not the sole reason.
I am a mother-tongue English speaker living and working in mainland Europe using my first language in a not particularly well-paid job- pretty poorly-paid in fact.
I graduated in Business in the early 90s from an English university but have not really worked in any field which employed such skills in any depth; marketing was my major.
Essentially, I want to change my area of work, and country. I would prefer to use my first language as I find language learning difficult.
I don't feel I have the energy nor the intellect to start studying again for a new degree or a higher one (certainly full-time; I might consider a part time course if I could find another job and location and become settled).
I have for a number of years harbored the idea of starting out by myself but not very certain in which field. The question of capital would be at least as big a hurdle as that of which area of entrepreneurship to focus on.
I have minimal obligations in my present situation; nothing that can't be walked away from in less than six weeks.
So, what do you think of this situation, and what direction could I realistically take at my age?
