Converse Appreciation Thread - Page 39

I managed to score an older pair of JP's, finally. So much better with the indented smile, working vents and metal shoelace covering :D

I hadn't realized they changed the design. If that's the case, maybe it would be a good idea to post links to stores that sell the original model?

Also, I recently whitened out the navy "smile" on my pair. I've had the sneakers for about two years, and they've held up remarkably well for canvas sneakers, but started to get stained and a bit worn out. I had an old bottle of sneaker whitener, and managed to freshen them up. I then decided to whiten out the smile, which I realize is the most distinguishable feature on these sneakers, but I think it turned out well enough.

Groovy shoes has the worst website design ever. But I did buy my last pair from them.

They seem to have the best prices.

I've noticed that Converse has put out two freakin' weirdos... Jack Purcell Slips (in the vein of vans slips, with goring and no eyelets) and Jack Purcell CVO's. Something about them are so odd. Like the classic Jack Purcell silhouette but look strange on top since they don't have the traditional lace up... I would maybe consider the slips if 6pm gets them on sale in a little while... but at the current prices, nah.

You can always find them on sale somewhere.

I really like this new Cabourn x Converse bosey boot collab. Unfortunately I own too many converse to justify a $150 shoe purchase.

How do you tell the old design from the newer ones?

It's pretty much covered all through the previous page

thanks, first time in this thread!  That's a bummer, I love JPs and my white ones are getting beat up to the point of looking into a new pair of white beater shoes.  Since they are changing the Purcells I think I'll just grab Chucks this time.

So it looks like create-your-own Converses are on sale right now. A good chance to make some nice clean colourways.

Anyone know how the leather is?

Pretty standard as far as sneaker leather goes. Good, not great. Will last much longer than canvas in my experience.

Low vs mid vs high top Chucks when matched with rolled up chinos?

Probably lows. Chuck Taylor mids, to me, are ugly. The cut is so awkward and straight. Probably not high-tops but maybe in the right way.
