My monthly Converse thread post:
From about 2009-2011 I got obsessed with kicks. For some reason I went crazy and kept buying shoes. Largely Vans, Chucks, a couple PF Flyers, Jack Purcells... Half of them I've still only worn a handful of times. Near the end of that obsession I started really liking these Converse Skidgrips. They are basically like slip-on Vans, but they are Converse. The construction is slightly thinner than Vans, and these are easier to slip on and less stiff before breaking in. I usually have to pull on my Vans (even worn in ones) where these skidgrips I can slip into without really needing to adjust the feel by hand.
Anyway, I love these skidgrips. I have a couple pairs and every now and then I scan Google for anyone that might be selling them. There are a few designs out there that I like but places don't always have them in 9.5. I also just discovered Converse Deck Stars, which are basically identical to skidgrips except they have a removable insert and the bottoms have the Chuck Taylor design underneath instead of the skidgrip design. Neither of these are even on the Converse site. Anyone know why? I really wish they had a make-your-own option, as I could probably design up 10 different pairs.
Does anyone know anything about either these Slip on Skidgrips or Deck Stars?
