True this. I even had a friend who had relatives in Japan look for some Purcell Side Gore Hi's for me last year, no luck. On a longshot I emailed Converse inquiring if they would ever be available in the US and I got a very curt response that said no. Some of the wackier shit they sell in Japan wouldn't sell in the US but the more conservative stuff probably would.

You guys think these will ever come back? They would look so sick with the asymmetrical laces like them Number (N)ine fuzzy cons.

^ 100% duct tape?

can I just say, I never wore chucks as a kid so only about a year or two ago got my first pair and could not understand all the hype. They're cheap, uncomfortable, and fell apart. I'm now onboard with the look but still think they're shitty shoes. Then I tried Purcells, and can't believe how much better they are, and for a minimal price increase. Why do people put up with the terrible chucks?

Son, you crazy!! I find that my Chucks are very comfortable. I walk with them everyday from Union station the Queen street for work. I never tried the Purcells. Where you get them at?

Well, they're super cheap and classic. New chucks can be had for $30-40 and even $10-30 if you really look hard. Everyone's got different feet, they're comfortable enough just to walk a bit, drive in, and lounge around in. I can see it being unconfortable to walk around all day in. But for sitting around in an office or such they're great because they're essential basic/minimalist canvas enclosures for your feet.

I tried on some chucks and then JP and the JP was definitely more comfortable.

Definitely more comfortable. I have a pair of the Jimi Hendrix collab thingy and they feel really terrible compared to pretty much all my other sneakers.

I've noticed they've been putting out more models without the 'classic' toe-cap... the one that people claim make Chucks look like clown shoes... If they made just a straight classic Chuck Taylor completely identical to the usual ones EXCEPT that toe cap, I wonder what people would think. I think that would look pretty cool. There's a new one on the Converse USA site that (I think it's called Chuck Taylor Canvas Cup sole) that's similar to a Chuck but not quite... one 1 pair of eyelets (?) some different stitching, absent toecap, and different rubber w/o the stripe. I'm too tired to wrangle up a link, but maybe I will tomorrow.

I've always wanted a pair of Jack Purcells without that stupid strip of colour on the toe cap
