Fat guys talking? Yes, that IS exciting.

It's filled with a bunch of pussies. Instead of rewarding toughness, you benefit from rolling on the ground from a phantom injury.

Soccer> NFL,CFL,NCAA,........

10x the action, the coaches don't wear track suits, WAY more athleticism (IMO), just better.

I don't have cable so its rare I get to see Soccer games, but college soccer is a ton of fun. I caught a little bit of the Creighton/UNL game on PBS i think.

As Tokyo Slim has said, sports is much more entertaining in general if you understand the game and are not just watching for all the action. Football and especially baseball are sports I love to watch in which you can see the mind games/playcallling/pitch selection going on and see how the teams/pitchers are calling plays/pitches to set up plays/pitches later in the game/at bat. The casual observer may not understand all the intracies of the game, but for those that do it takes watching the game to a new level. I also wish soccer was aired more on tv (not MLS). Rarely do I ever see a Premiership (or another league) even on directv, but would love to watch more Chelsea/Liverpool/Man U./Arsenal/etc. games on tv. Last World Cup I spent much of the time taking 2+ hour blocks off work during the day to go home and catch the game on tv.

I am planning on taking a few days off for that myself. I like soccer. I've been to several Sounders games, including the playoff game and the Friendly against Chelsea, A Real Madrid/DC United friendly back in the day w/ Beckham, Van Nistelrooy, and Freddy Adu all playing... One of these days I hope to go to the WC. BUT My first love is, and probably always will be (American) Football. Very few other major sports (baseball is the other one I can think of) have the blend of actual thought out strategy and athleticism that these two sports have. If you guys don't care about anything but highlights - why don't you just watch highlights? It would be like Americans just wanting to watch only scoring and penalty shootouts in Soccer. Which is what most people who don't understand the game do. They feel cheated when the highlights don't reflect what actually happens in a 90 minute game. THAT BEING SAID. I still maintain that running around and passing the ball back and forth is not "action". If you distill a soccer match down to the parts where someone makes a really brilliant pass, shoots and scores, makes a spectacular save, or penalty shootouts, you will get roughly the same amount of "action" that you get out of a NFL game. The fact that there aren't breaks in the coverage doesn't mean that it's any more exciting watching guys running around in circles essentially not doing anything for a good chunk of a game. I see guys waste time, play tentatively, hold the ball, or whatever in nearly every game. And I still don't like 0-0 ties unless I'm watching two dominant GK's shutting down the other team. And I'm not fond of ties in general. Probably never will be.

I have to say, as a spectator sport, tennis provides more moments of drama repeatedly throughout a major tournament than anything else. When you get a straight sets match, whatever, pay no mind, but when the good ones come (and there are a handful of them every tournament) they are absolutely amazing. And that isn't a matter of the action as much as the weight of the moment. That is what is most entertaining.

It´s only as boring as all other sports. Except for ice-hockey, of course.

wow there are a lot more hockey fans than I thought (not counting canadians)

the problem with soccer is you cant stop the game for advert breaks. it will never take off in america.

I tried to watch soccer, gave it a real chance. I heard "its action all the time" What I saw was a bunch of people kicking a ball and when i thought one was about to score someone would kick it halfway back the other way. The guys were just running they weren't tackling them or checking them into the glass. So after about and hour no one had score it was so boring my eyes almost bled. Now, the cuts to the crowd were awesome looked like a bunch of people having a blast. I think soccer to me is kind of like baseball, kinda on TV but amazing live.
