Suggestions on a new haircut

So, I've had my current hair style, if you can even call it that, forever. Basically it's just what my hair wants to do, it's very wavy especially in front. Apologies for the crappy picture, my camera sucks and I just took it really quickly. My hair is probably a good bit lighter than comes across in the picture also.

I'm looking for something new that works with the shape of my face but I really have no idea and I'm a bit afraid to let a stylist go wild without having a picture or something first. Any suggestions / recommendations would be great.

Thanks!

It doesn't look bad. If you haven't already, look through magazines for ideas.

I have similar hair and I've got something similar to this going on. Embrace the wave in the front, just not on the sides. Get the sides and the back tapered down so they don't curl as much and keep growing it on top and if it gets too long just taper it back but keep a little quiff going on up front. I'm not an expert, but I think that would work best for you.

It looks like it is naturally parting in the middle. My biggest suggestion would be to avoid this -- it makes you look a bit dorky, even though you appear to be a good-looking guy. I agree with the guy above that growing it out on top might work well for you. Scrolling down the pic a bit, do you have very wide hips relative to your shoulders, or is it just a mirror distortion? If that's not a distortion, a better choice of clothes and maybe some working out could do you wonders.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah I took this at like 2 AM hanging around, it's not what I would normally wear. There is some mirror distortion but I do have to start working out.

On the part, it actually doesn't naturally part anywhere, I think it just happened to be like that when I took the picture.

You could look exactly like Eric Forman, grow it out 70s style.
