If you haven't seen Miike's "˜Izo', you should. It's his most interesting film and a bit of a nod to Jodorowsky's "˜The Holy Mountain' (he basically lifts the rebirth ending idea that Jodo originally wanted to go with for his film). There's also peculiar dialogue about a rank vagina.

I will look for it. The only other Takashi film I have seen is Audition. I hope it's better then that one...

They're chalk and cheese, really. "˜Izo' is a much more demanding film.

Once Were Warriors. Great movie, but barely known in the US.

Fletch

Infernal Affairs ... the original HK movie that Brad Pitt later optioned, that became The Departed. Excellent buddy movie, if you don't mind subtitles.

The Last Boy Scout Tony Scott's direction ranges from competent to absymal, but it's worth watching just for Shane Black's script. This (along with Used Cars and Fletch) is on Netflix streaming.

They Live - It doesn't get any better than Roddy Piper in this movie!

Panic au Village (A Town Called Panic). It's a Belgian stop-motion animated film that is just f-ing hilarious and weird and awesome. It stars Horse as Horse, Cowboy as Cowboy, and Indian as Indian.

(Saw it Saturday afternoon at the E St. Cinema in DC. This is it's last week playing there so go catch it.)

This is great. I often wonder whether it would have been better with Kurt Russell in the lead though.

This is sitting on my hard drive but I can't seem to find subtitles anywhere online.
