wedding favors

I am looking for some unique and somewhat less standard wedding favor ideas. The things that have so far been offered by my lovely are utter garbage and frankly I would feel embarrassed presenting them. Doesn't have to be personalized at all, but should show our care and gratitude to the guests. Any help would be sincerely appreciated!

type: beach wedding
date: april
guests: about 30
budget: not limited

We gave the men hip flasks. I thought that was pretty awesome.

You're talking favors for the guests, as opposed to the groomsmen, correct?

Our wedding took place at a botanical garden so we thought it would be nice to give some flower seeds from the garden store for guests to plant when they got back home. We repackaged them in pretty little canvas bags.

This is very specific but I guess my point is that wedding favors don't have to be expensive at all but think for a second about the setting of the wedding and how you can give people something that they can relate to that day.

We gave people little balls off of the croque-en-bouche. If only Kwilk had been there...

I guess this is one of those things where you had to be there but without wanting to sound boorish, I think getting seeds at a wedding is pretty lame. WTF am I supposed to with them? You assume I have the place, not to mention the ability and desire, to plant them. I suspect I wouldn't mind if I was sufficiently drunk though (which I likely would). Heck, I'd probably roll them up and try to smoke 'em.

That said, my wedding favors were entirely forgettable trinkets (I think they were some sort of lacquered swan soap dish thingy) that my mother-in-law put together with some tulle lace and the requisite "dragees" (idk the english word for them).

Skanky single girls with VD are wedding favors that keep on giving. Tell your fiancee to get on it.

we had a big candy and pastry table where guests could make "goodie bags" of stuff to go. in lieu of favors we made a large donation to a charity. why give out stupid little trinkets that people are going to throw out when the money can be put to good use? show your care and gratitude in your thank you cards

Give peopl a good time, good food and lots of booze and I can't imagine they'd want any thing more. Everything else is liable to be tossed in the trash/garage/drawer.

at my sister's wedding in sf last year, my mother brought a bunch of shawls and left on a table by the door at the venue so the guests can help themselves. as it was an extraordinarily cold night, the souvenirs were a big hit for the ladies.

I recently was given a nice wine stopper, that, without going to far into it, would make everybody thing of the couple, but still useable in so far as a wine stopper is.

You guys had a traditional croque-en-bouche? That's badass. It's like high-end monkey bread, except way better.

Thanks for all your replies. I failed to mention that the wedding will be held at a hotel in the Dominican Republic, so automatically, the attendees are in for at least $500-1000 depending on the length of their stay. Subsequently, and even though I really like the charity idea, we feel compelled to offer a gift that will serve as a lasting memory and appreciation for undergoing this expense.
