treadmill?

so a few months ago I was running on the treadmill setting it to the max speed along with a great incline. Everything was fine for a week weeks. I wake up to run one day and notice that there's a crack down the part I run on.

It's been months but I finally have a new treadmill.

Has anyone ever fucked up their treadmill? Advice to keep it great?

My understanding is that you have to spend a lot of money (like, thousands of dollars kind of money) to get a treadmill that's made to withstand serious running.

While I've never run on a threadmill and probably never will, this makes perfect sense. Threadmills and other sport parafernalia are probably sold for resale during a garagesale one year later.
