Yup, I read this earlier today. Interesting to say the least.

so he went from a small-to-decent chance of getting laid, to a zero percent chance. thats not worth the 5 bucks?

Pretty much on point. The only women I'm okay with asking me to buy them a drink are strippers. It's classless otherwise.

Do people other than GoSurface actually read CL Missed Connections?

I think the whole point is that women know who they're going to sleep with most of the time regardless if you buy them a drink or a house or just ignore them. I like the guys thinking about how women expect men to buy them drinks. We all buy them drinks, they know this, we know this, but damn it gets old. Getting women at a club is one of the easiest things to do if you just try, now the quality of girl you may get is questionable at best. I don't go to bars/clubs looking for a wife, because I know what most of the women there are.

It adds up. If you did a proper ROI analysis of these little "investments," you would've come to the conclusion that the guy is better off saving his money and hire a decent looking escort.

p.s. a decent drink at a decent bar ain't cost no 5 dollar.

And the best part is that you don't have to spend time in a club. I'd be curious how much you guys that still go clubbing spend in an average night. When I was in boarding I'd spend like $30-40 bucks once a week when everyone went out to the bars on the weekend. These were not SF-approved bars, just regular places kids could get in to. Any time I ended up going anywhere "fancy" (and I haven't in a long time), it has cost me a good hundred bucks if not significantly more. I stopped going out when I got sick of paying a disproportionate amount of the bills that my buddies would rack up passing drinks around to girls that were just using them for freebies.

On a good night when I wanted to blow off steam, it'd be nothing to spend $200+ a night on just drinks for myself. And this was at a place where drinks are semi normally priced. Here around Knoxville we don't have any "fancy" places to go, which pisses me off..

I haven't been to a "club" for years, but as far as a decent bar is concerned, I'd normally spend about $100 on myself. Usually, I'd just do 3-4 decent beers at $7-8/pop, then 2-3 drinkable whiskeys/scotches/bourbons at $12-15/pop. After tips, it usually ends up being around a C-note. Luckily, my gf is a lightweight, so 2x martinis or cocktails of some sort and she's done for the night.

If the difference between getting laid and not getting laid is 5 bucks, is that really a girl you want to sleep with?

One question comes to mind. Are you looking to get laid, or are you looking for someone to be in a relationship with? For some men the answer may be the same, but for others these are two entirely different things.

Hey baby what is your problem? Huh, you got a problem? You're good looking, you got a beautiful body, beautiful legs, beautiful face, all these guys in love with you. Only you got a look in your eye like you haven't been fucked in a year.
