Antilock breaks are also key.

People with track experience + racing driving courses > morons with too much money that think a powerful car means they know how to drive

Both of you have track experience with powerful and exotic cars. Most people don't, especially since they have never even set foot on a racetrack (I have BTW), to say nothing of driving on one. Now have those people had any formal lessons, nor do they realize that the track environment, where high-speeds are possible is not akin to the road where trying to drive like you are in a GT race is simply impossible.

I see it everyday: morons with German cars, to say nothing of Italian cars think that somehow they drive better because they drive a more expensive car than others on the road. If a young Bruce McLaren taught us anything is that the driver makes the car and not the other way around.

Like these guys:

A 13-year-old boy sustained serious head injuries and was transported by helicopter Thursday evening after his father lost control of his sports scar and crashed into oncoming traffic near 6000 East and Big Cottonwood Canyon Road.

Witnesses told police that shortly after 8:30 p.m., the man was racing his Lotus against a white Porsche when he apparently lost control.

"Witnesses reported the Lotus went around the turn and the back end slipped out, and it over corrected," said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Jake Petersen. "He just lost control."

The Lotus struck a BMW in the opposite lane head-on. The driver and passenger of that car, a husband and wife, sustained minor injuries, Petersen said. Their car, however, was damaged beyond repair.

Police extricated the child and his father with "all the tools available," Petersen said. It took nearly 30 minutes to cut the roof off the vehicle and free them.

A Life Flight helicopter flew the boy to Primary Children's Medical Center in serious condition. His father was transported by ambulance to Intermountain Medical Center, also in serious condition.

All lanes of Big Cottonwood Canyon Road were closed for more than an hour. Officers allowed traffic to resume shortly before 10 p.m., Petersen said.

The suspected car that was racing with the Lotus was a white Porsche, KSL reported.

A witness, Preston, who requested not to have his last name revealed, told KSL that the Porsche driver knew something really bad had happened. "He said ‘I'm pretty sure there was a fatality involved,'" Preston said in a phone interview. "He knew that it was a head-on crash and he could hear it behind him.

Salt Lake County Sheriff's deputies say the Porsche and a Lotus were involved in a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse, when the Lotus lost control and collided with an oncoming SUV. The driver of the Lotus and his 13-year-old son were flown to the hospital in critical condition, KSL reported.

Investigators had said they were unclear, based on the Porsche driver's account, whether he knew what had happened.

Preston told KSL the driver rushed up to him and asked to use his cell phone to call 911.

"I also thought it was strange that if he heard the crash, that he didn't just stop and go back to see if he could help out in some way - even though he didn't have a cell phone," Preston said.

Investigators say it's unclear what charges may be filed, and it will be up to prosecutors who screen the case.

I was referring to driving on the street.

Depending on the year, the Elise may not even have traction control available as an option. But that was just dumb: racing on public roads, with your kid in the car?

I had a 98 Camaro SS....that needed to go faster...the little LS1 V8 that could.... I got NO2 and it went faster.....but eventually overrevved and blew out the bottom end. Got head/valve job and cam....and rebuilt the motor.... Then added the David Incon/Lingenfelter Twin Turbos package, but used larger turbos, and injectors, built transmission and rear end, drive shaft etc etc..... With the little hidden chromoly cage (due to speed in the 1/4) and turbos it was quieter than stock....with 1000hp+ on tap...and street legal and my everyday driver with stereo, A/C, power everything etc. It was quick in a straight line, looked totally stock except for the wide Nitto DRs in the back but it wasnt set up for turns. Regards.
