Edit by j, your host:

Last thread was getting too big for server. New one started.

Original can be found here :
HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part I

Edit again: sorry, I squirrelled the original for now. It was too big and was lagging up the server. It will return when upgrades are completed.

This is an interesting jacket - did you get it made up? It looks like it has the picking you get on a shirtsleeve shoulder to hold the seam allowance in place, but done by machine to match the tradly quarter inch stitching on the lapels and pockets. Haven't seen that before.

new year's eve (our digital camera appears to be from the future), decided to go with a suit instead of the tuxedo to see a jazz show and drink/ revel a little.

newly purchased navy and french blue Thurston braces, after seeing these in an issue of The Rake mag:

actually, this is my last item with pleated trousers- MTM navy blue with french blue pinstripes (recently had the fit of the body and neck adjusted, very happy with the results)
white kiton FC shirt
white brioni cotton pocket square
Asprey silver oval cufflinks
robert talbott BOC light blue tie
ed green Gladstone black captoes
Omega seamaster 300m GMT steel watch
tom ford Tuscan Cypress cologne

I wouldn't have gone with pinstripes but you look nice nonetheless.

^This may be the first time I have given a standing ovation to a pair of suspenders. Happy New Year!

I think pinstripes can work for evening if worn with a solid tie. If he had worn a rep tie, it might have looked more "I just left the office and headed right for dinner/ theatre."

This is the brewery - not at all impressive from the outside. But their beers!

true, but pinstripes also kick ass in most any situation-- even if it looks like i came from the boardroom, it's ok by me.

there was a young guy there in a white dinner jacket, bowtie and dress trousers, I was very happy that I was not him (in DC in the middle of a rainy winter)

But they do make pinstripe tuxedos. And trousers for Morningwear; (note the semicolon)

(but I do agree with you as a general rule...but I believe if you can make it work, it works)
