I agree with Ianiceman, but, like EAP, also like the "body" that a double FIH knot produces. The compromise: loop it twice but then pull the front blade between the first and second loop rather than behind the first loop. That way, you have the added heft without the tie looking either too sprezzy or improperly tied.

Looks great. A wine tie & solid light blue shirt would work equally as well. Try a burnt orange tie & see how it works.

I'm not a fan of the flowers on that tie, but that's just a nitpick. I like everything else about this, including the color combo, the double 4-in-hand, and the edged PS. How 'bout giving us a long shot so we can see how everything fits?

Working the triple threat today: casual ensemble, monochromatic color scheme, and The Dark Shirt. Ah, but how will it play in the big leagues?

(Disclaimer: Pics were taken at the end of a very rough day, so my tie knot's askew, my shoes are scuffed and dusty, and my jeans are sagging at the hips, making my tie look too short.)

^I thought of a wine/dark burgundy, but the only one I have is kind of satiny and didn't seem textured enough for the linen. ALso, thought about burnt orange but thought the green/orange combo may be too halloweeny... If only I had a rust tie in raw silk.

Thanks, UC - I am thinking that I'll be able to work another ancient madder into the mix tomorrow - depending on how grim the weather in NYC is predicted to be. Today it was snowing on my way to the subway, though it was rain six miles further south when I got off the train. Doesn't really inspire me for the Friday challenge of "la primavera", but I guess it will be a matter of mind over meteorology.

Appreciate it. I really love the flowers, so let's call that a matter of personal taste. Bit too much of a rush to take a photo before leaving, and I don't want to take anymore pictures in the washroom at work. I'll try to find the time when I get home tonight, but it's the same suit I posted Monday.

After my "Great Berber Morocco" experience a more serious stuff.

I have tweed with ticket pockets. However, this is linen and silk, quite a heavy linen.


That is 100% off the rack. Nothing altered at all. The sleeves are a tad long, but with longer shirts it works.

Yes... Guido is at the center of my bro-mance this week. This is very nice. I've always liked your style... minus the button down collars left undone. This outfit epitomizes the look I usually go for when wearing a suit and reminds me yet again... I NEED A GRAY SUIT! And great tie... again!


Tight as usually Mr. Spoo. Question... do you have cuff in any of your pants? I only ask because I don't think I've ever seen you in a cuffed trouser. Minus a suit I don't think it looks bad but I really think your suits could benefit from a cuff. It's all a matter of personal opinion... I was just wondering if you had something against them.
