^ was just going to ask. Love shantung silk for summer. yfyf, good to see you back.

MBrennin-Those pants are too short by any account. If you insist on wearing them...wear them with lace ups

How do you guys get such good shots, anyway? I do own an actual camera other than my phone, but I couldn't get the detailed shots like you all. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Welcome! Looks a little meh. I mean for your first shot it's very good, and by regular standards pretty acceptable. What I will say is that I can see just by looking at it that your shirt's collar doesn't indicate it's a "good" quality shirt. something about the shape, frumpyness, I dunno, it's just not really a "nice" shirt and I would have guessed the brand or something similar. Tie is ok, I think you can do more with it. Eg try a light blue shirt with the same combo, add a white tv fold pocket square. and keep posting. set your camera on a timer, careful of the camera height, and get better pics like that.

like the tie, not so much the knot... Phat Guido does the wide fat tie well but something about your knot and dimple makes it look too crinkly or something, like not a smooth dimple. the hard triangular knot it throwing me off. maybe a biggish FIH?

Mike, I know the slim tie and club collar are probably authentic for the 50's or something but something about this pic seems off. It looks to me like the tie is too slim for your frame, like you're just overpowering it, and the short little club collar there is holding on for dear life. It's not terrible or anything but the proportions looks a little off. Maybe try wearing the tie under a sweater or cardigan? I really dig the SC, those natural shoulders, peaks, functioning ticket pocket(!)

oy vey! what sound did it make? PS - what happened to the use of spoilers I know I know it's work but scrolling down is soooo much easier.

I had my cup of tiger blood this morning, sir. Thanks for the socks.. nobody special really, They are like $5. If you really like them, I can check the store if they have any more and I can toss them in the box Im sending you. Let me know.

For some reason, its a combo of this SC and the rain. Anytime I wear it, the iPhone pics come out crystal effing clear. I usually wear this when it rains too (accident, not intentionally). Mrs. Spoo had the day off, so she could really focus on the pics. I made her get on her knees this morning.

Thanks mm - Yep, I agree on a cashmere too, but I could not wait to crack out this tie.

Thanks - and no, she cant even get that game back on the court yet... too bad as I need some more colors for summer Just curious - I dont sift through the CBD thread so often - I saw you posted it there, but what was your feedback on that WAYWRN for this fit? You and I are two people who do NOT belong in that thread.

Thanks MoK - Trying to keep up with the marbling on your Barkers. Those are just amazing. I agree about the knot, but as I mentioned this was my first unlined tie, so I need to practice tying those better to get more heft. I had a double FIH before this, but it was not agreeing with me, so just went single.

See my above comment to MoK - I agree, but this was a whole new animal I need to adjust into.

crosspost from CBD WAYWRN, simple fit with a new suit. Need to bring it to a tailor and get a lapel buttonhole put in.

I may very well be wrong, but I was under the impression longwings are often called gunboats as apposed to wingtips which NYR is wearing. Or is it just an expression in relation to the size of the shoe?

As you may have guessed from the post-count and reg date, I'm fairly new to this. I'm posting in the hopes of getting some honest, and more importantly, specific feedback, not so I can be the butt of derisive one-liners. If it is your hope to run off newbies and keep them perpetually caught in a world of sartorial mediocrity, by all means, keep it up. You're doing a terrific job. If, on the other hand, you wish to see new members improve their personal style, and furthermore if feel you have something to contribute to their continued improvement, maybe you should be a little more specific and a lot less insulting in dispensing advice.
Take it down a notch, there, champ. My criticism was directed at your tie, not at you. This is a clothing forum, after all, so clothing is fair game. What's more, my joke about "tie rehab" was on myself, not on you. Thicken up that skin of yours and keep posting. There's much to learn here if you don't take it personally.

At the risk of sounding Freudian, one might argue that those glasses are still an attempt to take attention away from your face. They're kind of like a shield.

The collar pin I wore yesterday is a sterling silver one, made for that specific purpose, and the shirt is made with eyelet holes designed to accommodate a collar pin, so, no, it doesn't damage the shirt.

You're correct - NYR's shoes weren't gunboats yesterday, though he does have quite a collection of them - my bad.
