I like it. I like how some aspects dress it up and others dress it down.

Rob, almost Rob, almost........

those socks, why or why?? Not crazy about gunboats with suits and not crazy about whisky gunboats in that shade of grey but others may disagree.

The socks are Wizard of Oz.

I like the gunboats.

Patch on worsted = Patch on gray = Patch on gray worsted =

BTW, great tie. Beautiful rich navy and the quality of the silk really shines through.

I'm with you Ed. I loved the top half NYR, but once I hit the socks/shoes it threw me.

Anyway, I think the Ercole cut looks really good on you.

What are the rules for patch pockets?

Dig the gunboats, NYR, just not that color with that suit. Seems too casual with the suit, especially with the socks. With a tweed sportcoat, tho, it'd be awesome. Also, really like ndw's fits. Not typically a fan of red ties, but it looks great, esp. w the striped shirt & solid suit.

I'd reserve it for less formal fabrics, so woolens, tweeds, cottons, linens, etc.

Essentially, fabrics with texture.

Thanks for the pointers. The Texture-rule applies equally to suits and sport coats?

What about patch pockets on db?

Any guidance when to choose for 2 patch pockets and when for 3, or is that really a matter of personal preference?

Any rules as to the color of the fabric? I see Manton raising some eyebrows when patch pockets are done on gray.

I'd say so.

I like it on the right fabric, say a woolen flannel.

It's probably personal preference but I like 3 patch. 2-patch seems like you're trying to maintain some formality whereas 3 patch is saying fuck it.

Manton'll have to chime in but I have visions of a 3-patch dove gray flannel dancing in my head.

Cheers, MoK. Yeah, a deeper V-Neck would have been great, but i don´t have any .
