That's an interesting and accurate point. The tie was an afterthought; I was initially going to go open collar, then at the last moment changed my mind and put on a tie in case it gets a bit breezy/cooler later in the day so grabbed the first tie that appeared to co-ordinate. It doesn't work as well as I thought it would. If I was to take a mulligan, I would probably keep the tie though, and switch the trousers for something non-red instead.

^I am interested as well - because in the static photo it actually looks slightly long to me (and I have the same preference for a longer coat and wore a similarly long suit coat today), but IRL when moving etc. it feels perfect to me. The way my hips flare out I feel the slightly longer coat helps to conceal this.

Mike

+1 - tie and shirt combo seem out of place with this getup. Maybe a solid oxford blue shirt (sans tie) or with a more subdued tie.

Yeah I agree about the square, though the one I'm wearing is not as blue as it appears in the detail shot. As for the tie I wanted subtle transitions as opposed to starker contrasts, in which case I would have gone with a deeper navy or burgundy.

Yeah. I was thinking solid burgundy. Just a nit though. You still look sharp!

Oh yeah! I love my burgundy tie with this suit but I just wore that combo not too long ago and I didn't want to repeat myself too soon

Cheers!

I really like the complex jacket pattern combined with the solid grey pants, simple blue shirt and navy tie with white dots. This is the way to wear a POW. I would suggest trying a white linen pocket square (with loose points and a puff) for the best effect. The solid pink silk has too much sheen. You would benefit from the texture and contrast of the white linen.

Very nice jacket!

Very nice jacket!

Thanks, PSG.

The tie is actually black, and the square is linen with a very faint windowpane through it...if that makes any difference. Any sheen is an artifact of lighting and camera.

I did not even notice the lenght. Take that as a sign that it works. It also seems to downplay issues you have shown in the past with the lower half of your fits.

You may be right with the square (even though I know you often bypass squares out of preference), but I had this pink linen square that Spoo sent me sitting in the drawer, and it worked well with the pink windowpane.....so, there you have it.

Org, that jacket just looks too small for you. The tight fit, lower gorge and fish mouth notch make you look almost hunched over. Are you carrying an invisible weight on your back?

Yes it does. Please, promise me that you will never wear a window pane shirt, tie or pocket square with that jacket ever again.

LOL. It is a very large scale windowpane and it is incredibly faint. For all intents and purposes, it is a solid.

It looks more or less identical to the one Sartorialism is selling but his is a three-piece silk. Today's outfit is great, Mike.
