I posted partly because of that, and partly because I want to know what separates what they're doing from what I'm doing. If this was inappropriate, then by all means, I can remove my post. It's difficult to know otherwise though.

Not inappropriate, man. Just not super stylish, and doesn't fit super well, that's all. If the sweater were more trim and the pants were regular, slim-ish chinos, you'd be winning.

Hence why I'm here. Good to know the difference. Thanks again.

Socks are a good choice. i agree with NDW that a plain white shirt would have been better though,

I agree that that particular shirt might not have been the best choice, but I think the shirt needs some pattern in order to perk up the outfit.

More texture, maybe, but sheen? Did you say sheen? Don't get me started!

Thanks, ace. The tie is from Drakes.

I'm relieved to hear this, gentlemen. I've been trying to swear off "fun" socks until I've gotten a better handle on the basics, but I just can't leave them in the drawer some days. Then I feel awkward in them by the time I've gotten to work.

Thanks guys. Regarding the tie, I feel like I'm always wearing either my solid navy or one of my solid browns, just wanted to try something different and even though the red and blue contrast each other I felt they balanced OK with the colors of the jacket and weren't a total clash of patterns. The bag is a 256, its PERFECT for what I need. The Scholar I used to have was like a piece of luggage, sorry to disappoint TB. MoK, we can't all be Baggies (great result in the derby this weekend for you). I thought about the Neil Young version, but decided Bobby Manc last minute. BTW, been very much enjoying your posts over in SW&D...I don't post as much there but lurk quite a bit.

What type of knot is this? Looks like a four in hand but more refined? Thanks much, sorry for the ignorance.
