There's a somewhat tangential point I want to make here about photos of outfit in this thread or in general. - A nicely-fitting suit should look like it fits in all angles and poses, not just the poses you select for posting on here. - Even a nicely-fitting suit will wrinkle, crumple and adopt strange angles that you're not used to seeing when in some poses. This doesn't mean it fits badly. People move around, and part of what makes for a nicely-fitting suit is that it looks good when in motion, with the natural wrinkles and odd fabric kinks/angles that goes along with that. - What you need to figure out is what a nicely fitting should look like in different positions/lighting/etc (at least in terms of a conventional definition of good fit). It's relatively easy to lock into what makes a suit look good when staring directly from the front, because that's what we commonly see in the mirror. You just need to get used to figuring out how you like clothes to look from other angles. That's why you didn't notice the problems before. - Your suit looks OK in some photos but not in others, and some of the poses will make even a nicely-fitting suit not look but, the important point is that it deviates even from that "acceptable range of not looking good" in some pics. I'm probably not explaining this well, because I'm feeling too lazy to break the above logic down into its true elements, but hopefully you get my drift. Bingo. Part of it will be photo angle, sure, but if you also tie that observation into what I wrote above to Sotiris, you might figure out what else would improve the look. It's a perfectly acceptable look in a general public sense of course, but it could be so much better, and if you're reading SF you probably have your sights set higher. I think I'll experiment at some point over the weekend, laying out a few different combos and seeing what clicks. I really enjoy colour-play, so it's always fun to play with new combinations. I know others have already commented on this statement, but it really is unhelpful. It has nothing to do with the cost of the outfit, but everything to do taking a passable, generally-acceptable, look and pointing out the difference between that and an outfit that works on another level. There are quite a few nice things about sugarbutch's outfit, but that doesn't contradict Nii's comments. Nii has a lot more patience than I do, in writing all that advice out. My natural preference to let people notice those kind of things for themselves over time through gradual osmosis/observation rather than providing a didactic prescription, but Niii wasn't wrong in the essence of his advice. There is a big difference between acknowledge the good parts of an outfit and keeping largely silent on some of the rest (my usual MO, done partly from a position of laziness), and actively praising the sub-optimal parts! Fair Isle type sweaters are really growing on me. Very nice. And photo from the Mesolithic. I like the lapel shape a lot. They add a nice bit of extra visual interest which your relatively narrow and long frame benefits from, especially given your preference for soft shoulder. DB suits you, too. Spectacular photo. Can't see the clothes, really, mind. But spectacular photo. I love the tie, but perhaps not for this look, which seems to want a smaller scale pattern for the outfit perhaps. Final thought: the above is a lot more commentary than I usually write. Frankly, I read back parts of it and it seems very patronising, which is not my intent. I do not generally like to adopt that tone here, because I don't consider myself as a particularly exceptional dresser so making teaching points seems presumptious. I do enjoy playing with colours a lot, but there is still a lot to criticise in terms of fit/shape/item-choice in my own looks, so I hope the above doesn't come across as my trying to be what I am not.

+1. Seems a little shorter and more snug than your usual jackets HF but an improvement IMO. Nice colour combo with the blue too.

It is slightly long, but I like my coats like that.

nice shot. when we lived in minnesota i had a "sound room" ... two technics, two cdjs, two mackies, about 8 crates and my beloved rane mixer ... i think i spent more time there; than with the mrs ... lol.

she is happy we live in an apartment now.


i wondered the same thing. its a great picture in its entirety, but tells nothing about fit. although it is a safe assumption that PG's isht fits right.

Ed - i envy/aspire for your s/c collection one day. Just great. I see your lapel width grew with time. What was your justification for this?
