Yeah I like those subtle colours. The trend for most on here is for a more nipped waist, and the gap at your neck might just be the way you're standing, but I reckon when the only criticisms are smaller details not 'horrific colour' or 'gruesome tie' or whatever, you know you are on the right track.

I one day aspire to have as radical a collection of sportcoats as Gnatty. I've always wondered, would you say that most of your more vocal pieces are mid-to-high-end Italian RTW numbers? Bespoke?

the colours might not have come out quite right in the light...

tan gabardine jacket - bespoke J.F. Lambie
light grey plaid trousers - Reiss
bengal stripe shirt - Lewin
suede brogues - Alfred Sargent
yellow whale-print tie - Vineyard Vines
ps - Ede & Ravenscroft.

I only have 2 suits left over from 12 suits over the past 3 Years. My Daily Soul Train Marathon has wreaked carnage on my clothing. Only one of the suits was able to be repaired from all the rips. This 1926 suit. Many good memories were aquired plus some cash in dance off prizes.

The individual items look nice and tonally it all works, but I think a gingham shirt with a pinstriped suit is just wrong - the shirt is summery, carefree, would be excellent with a blazer, but conflicts with the character of the suit. Navy with stripes really does demand to be dressed up rather than down, I think. I have a possible, similar objection to the vest - is it a knit, or a real waistcoat? If it's knit then I also would not wear it with the suit..... with a tweed jacket, yes. I really do like that shirt though, with a solid navy suit I think it would be just fine. And nice tie. That's more like it!

Robbie -you're a brave man to wear a white sweater teaching! I wld never have done that when I was teaching - chalk dust was the worst to get out of clothes and I used a lot of chalk!

I don't think that would be an issue for him as he is standing in front of a whiteboard.

As per the suggestion of mbreinin and others, today's photos were taken without flash. Also please note that it snowed overnight in NYC, and I'm wearing that which is due for the dry cleaners next, plus my "problem child" shirt - a dress shirt so loud that it is a challenge to find a tie to coordinate with it - and, as it's vintage Hilditch & Key, rather too high on the food chain to merely toss out.
