re: my comments on the M3: I've no problem with the M3 as a car; it's great fun. If someone gave me one, I'd definitely keep it for a while! And maybe it's rep abroad is different to here. artoftime probably put my feelings best here: But I comment from the perspective of having a less powerful/sporty car (Audi S4, and over 7 years old now!) so take my view with a pinch of automotive salt. PS. on your outfit incontro, if the jacket's black cashmere, I can see the look working better than I first thought. It looked dark navy on my monitor. Slightly different look for me today. I wrote an article on the perils of the stealth wealth aesthetic for my blog yesterday, so felt inspired to take a nod or two from that direction. However, as I suggested in the article, I really don't like that aesthetic for myself, so couldn't resist changing my mind and going from discreet to somewhat flashy by adding in the waistcoat/pocket watch and black suede shoes and charcoal grey hat. Hey, you have be true to yourself, right? PS. No turkey day over here, but cold enough to raise a few goose bumps at least!

Really nice combination!! But don't you think another pocket square wil be a better finishing touch? The red colour really contrasts the overall outfit. But that's my opinion. Maybe you can explain your choice to me, I'm just new on SF, and learning from other people is a good thing.

And what's the brand of that Tie?

My thinking was that the red ground and blue/gold paisley the pocket square contrasted with the tie's yellow ground and navy pattern (the tie is RL Polo, BTW). Well, that was my thinking anyway.

As for the M3, my wife and I are going down to one car due to the fact that we live in the city and my car is used only occasionally, and I've pushed for an M3. I think the car's performance and road feel outweigh any image issues. Unfortunately for me, my better half will not drive a manual transmission (even with the M double-clutch in "auto" mode).

I have a saying: If your car has an automatic tranny, it's not driving it's steering.

However, I'll concede that shifting gears in Chicago traffic is a pain. Given that most of our driving is around town, the practicality wins out.
