Thanks, the tie was an anniversary gift from Mrs. TC. I was unsure about it, but her response of "I don't give a shit if you like it or not, I picked it and it's not going back" pretty much settled it. It's growing on me. She also said she was well aware that I only choose ties in shades of blue, brown or burgundy, and that this was an attempt to expand my horizons.

"Old man". Nah, you were there, post #316 in the Reevolver GQ/Esquire thread. LOL

I think it's a lovely tie and an excellent and sharp outfit (in an old man-ish kind of way, of course).

Finally got to break into the fall wardrobe, and shovel the spring/ summer stuff into a back closet of the guest room. one of my favorite suits for fit and cut (gray RLPL), new saks brand cashmere tie, isaia shirt, and freshly pressed juice o' the bean from the Handpresso

Awesome outfit. And I love Isaia shirts!

She'll complain at first, but your wife will get used to eating dinner at 4PM when all those discounts start piling up.

In short order you'll save enough to buy a new tie

Seriously, who can afford to eat at 7 pm these days? Must be nice to have that kind of money . . .

Hey Rob. It seems to me that the spread collars you favor deprive you of your neck.

I'd like to see you in a narrower and lower-banded collar just to see how much of a difference it makes. Any chance of that happening?

Full disclosure: I have the opposite problem. I've been having shirts made with extra tall collars in an attempt to camouflage my giraffe-like neck. I think it's been working pretty well, so it ought to work the other way 'round, too, right?
