NYC for my wedding- Restaurant, bar suggestions

Im going to NYC next weekend for my extremely informal wedding- basically we are going to get married at city hall, then go to a bar with the approx 8 friends that are going with us. Anyone have any suggestions for the following: 1. nice dinner for my fiance and me the night before everyone gets there. Something nice, but not crazy expensive. Im thinking maybe the $200 range. She's a vegetarian but eats fish. 2. nice and/or fun bar to go for drinks after the ceremony. We are totally fine with this being a happy hour more than a wedding reception. 3. restaurants where the whole group (8-10) people can go for a good dinner, but still get a reservation a week out. These dont all need to be nice places- if you know a great local hole in the wall, thats great too.

No suggestions, but you're actually getting away with this?

Are you trying to stay near City Hall or does location not matter?

If you are getting married at city hall..why not have a bite at City Hall Restaurant?

The best restaurant in the vicinity is Bouley on W Broadway which has a great lunch for $45.

If you want to have a FUN time with your friends, go to the PATRIOT on Chambers...cheap beer, $1.25 sliders and hot dogs, completely out of character for the neighborhood. (I work across the street from the City Clerk's office at the Fed Court, I will come to the Patriot if you actually go there!)

For very good drinks, go to Ward III, a tad pricey...Mudville 9 close by is a generic looking bar but has extensive beer offerings, Petite Abeille near by has some good deals, 1/2 price Belgian beer Mondays, all-u-can eat mussels another night...Chinatown has real cheap food, be careful where you go though.

Eleven Madison Park sounds pretty spot on for what you want. Food is fantastic.

If you want to do something that is really different, how about a huge banquet at a divey Chinatown place? They'll be happy to serve you about 12-14 courses...you won't get the fancy-schmancy creations of a hot chef, but get incredible Chinese classics made from great ingredients (Lobster, duck, etc.). Most places have banquet tables that can seat 10-12 persons comfortably, and everything is served family-style which makes for a lot of fun and festivity.

Sure...Mandarin Court on Mott Street...authentic, but welcoming and accommodating to non-Chinese people ...just divey enough to be exciting, while remaining sanitary. And about three blocks from City Hall! Ask for Kitty, she is the owner and will take great care of you.

1. I would think a place like Bouley is going to be out of your price range. EMP or Corton might be a little bit more manageable but are still pricey and may be hard to get a reservation. Wallse in the west village might work, I have had fish there and it has been quite good. If you are ok with Italian, places like Scarpetta, Convivio, or Apizz (a little less expensive) would all be good bets.

2. There are plenty of divey places in Tribecca if that is what you are looking for. If it were me though, I would go to the Brandy Library. You can make a reservation and celebrate with some seriously good drinks, I also think it has a good celebratory ambience.

3. If you do go the Chinese banquet, Congee Village is a good bet. If you were looking for a nicer place, I would go with the Harrison which has the added benefit of being very near city hall. I have also recently had larger group dinners at Corsino and 'Inoteca that have worked very well.

+1 on City Hall restaurant. Also look into Duane Park rest. in that area. For a tad North of that try Pepolino (Italian). You are staying in a pretty awful area for eating/drinking however. If you want to add a tad more details on what you're looking at for after the wedding (how divey are we talking here?) I can offer a ton of suggestions as I work a block from City Hall and live less than 15 from your hotel.

A couple bars/lounges I think are worth checking out: Little Branch, Death & Co, Simyone (this one is more of a club), and PDT. This last one is sure to impress anyone from out of town. You enter the place through a vintage phone booth in the hotdog joint next door. And the drinks are great.

those are all great places but no way they'd be getting in with 8 friends
