I need to outfit my 1 bedroom, exposed-brick apartment in NYC. As of now, I consider the vast majority of my furniture completely disposable.
I've done a lot of research on the various furniture available, pricing and trends. I've reached the point where I'm ready to start pulling the trigger, but before I do, I want to make sure I've got everything straightened out. My main worry is that I'm going to end up with a place full of great stand-alone pieces that lacks any sort of general cohesion.
In this thread I want to discuss what types of furniture (industrial, mid-century, rustic) work together and which don't. Let me make clear that for me personally, I'm most interested in mid-century modern furniture and industrial, with some rustic thrown in (for example, I own a chicken coop which I'm using as shelving).
Also, let me know if you think color plays a big role in matching here. Would the storage / nightstand example I provide work better with various shades of the tufted headboard?
So let me get this started with some examples.
I absolutely love both of these. I would use the left as storage, placed against an exposed brick wall. I would use the right as a nightstand placed against exposed brick. If I purchased either, I would like them next to the image below.
I would place this against an exposed brick wall. Would this work with the example above? What if it were white. Other colors?
