You should move to SF. And also end your internet connection. iammatt will provide you with hours of joyful conversation. Life will be good.

I might ask the same question of you ... but it doesn't take much intelligence to come up with that response.

But no ... I'm not 12. Neither am I Jesus ... I'm too old to be Jesus ... but I'm pretty high up there ... well ... rank-wise -- come to think of it ... age too -- being a First Family Virginian ... Episcopalian ... and all that crap ... crap being a term you seem to appreciate.

I note that you didn't answer my question ... which was something as follows: If you think both places to be "crappy" ... why not live someplace that isn't crappy? Pretty simple question really ... one I assume you might be able to answer. I mean why would someone elect to live in a crappy place?

BTW ... I live in San Francisco and New York. Not at the same time mind you ... I haven't discovered how to do that as of this point ... but do I own a place in each location. And I choose to live in these places because I like them.

Whereabouts in SF?

Used to live in city ... but have relocated to the Berkeley Hills. I enjoy looking out at San Francisco Bay, the City, the Golden Gate, Mt. Tam, Alcatraz, etc. ... while being a bit removed.

I agree with RSS, life is what you make it. I know a guy who was born and raised in Virginia Beach, and he absolutely LOVES it. He was in the navy and traveled the World but said he would never leave VB.

I lived in SF for about 8 years and I had a great time.

I did. Grew up 90 minutes from there, went to college a couple hours from there, actually lived IN the city for a year while in culinary school, and in August of 09, I moved out to Healdsburg, CA and find myself spending a lot of my free time in San Fran.

New York used to have a blue law prohibiting stores from selling alcohol on Sunday. May still have it for all I know ... as I am no longer the one who stocks my bar.

I recall needing a bottle of Vodka to make Bloody Marys for Howard Galley (the Episcopal Church editor of the Daily Office) who was coming over to brunch. I slapped a $20 on the counter -- this was a few years back -- and told them it was for religious purposes.

Depends which you care about more, better weather or uglier people?

I'll always remember the girl in the spaceman costume on the subway platform at 125th Street back when Harlem was still ghetto downtown.

OP, This is the stick-up-the-ass attitude you will constantly have to tolerate in places like SF...
