men's hair product ingredients

Are most of the "salon" products good for your hair? For example, I have some Aveda Grooming Clay, and one of the ingredients is Alcohol denat. I've read this is a "bad" alcohol and can dry out hair. However, the product also includes several "good" alcohols like C14-22 and Cetyl Alcohol. So would the "good alcohols" prevent any negative effects of the denat?

Depends on where in the ingredient list the alcohol denat. is. Is it within the first five ingredients?

First 5 ing. are: Water, Canola Oil, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Oryza Sativa (rice) bran wax.

The alcohol denat. is number 10.

That means this hair product has a high concentration of fatty ingredients which are great for the hair. As its the 10th ingredient down, the alcohol dentat is probably just a low concentration used to help dissolve and then bind the ingredients together so that the wax doesnt separate. I wouldn't worry about any damage to your hair.
