What's my upside? I suppose the acclaim of clothing geeks is somewhat comforting but what you need is a recommendation from someone who believes that 16 fittings is a sign of care rather than incompetence.

There is no acclaim being sought, I'm just asking for opinions and assuming people to be generally decent about it.

This is a most excellent threak. I feel for vox, though, as he hasn't been able to get anybody excited about his life for a few pages.

Mccvi,

I think Raphael does a really excellent job--just be forewarned that he can be more or less hostile to suggestions, depending on the winds. If you like something rounder and with more drape, you'll have to push him to do something closer to what he does for Aportnoy and Manton than what he does by default, and that may be difficult. However, everything he makes is soft and pretty light.

Vox's MBT stuff is intended to mimic the Neapolitan style of jacket. So, it is naturally rounder and swervier than what Steed does. If you like that, Rubinacci or Solito could work for you. Both visit NYC, although without a very concrete schedule.

Hope that helps.

If you leave a trail of caviar and brioche bread crumbs, he might catch up with us and give it another go.

I would send you to Raphael, if you like what he does for me. Sounds like that is what you are looking for. Not cheap by any means. Expect to pay at least $3,500 for a jacket, and possibly more.

I thought Vox had achieved "Intel Inside" status (Vox in the Box), and it is now always about him even if it doesn't seem like it?

Thanks, I'll go meet with him and see how it goes. The price seems relatively reasonable given what I've heard about his work, and having access to him locally for fittings.

foof, your foofed photo only made the wearer more portly than he actually is in real life. So all things being considered the tailor did a very, very good job.

Note that Raphael left for his annual 2 week Caribbean vacation on Friday and he'll back at the end of the month.

Do you actually know him, or are you just conjecturing?
