The other day I saw a young couple buy two dark micropinstripe Hugo Boss suits and a couple of ties for a total of 1200+ dollars. I saw it rung up on the register. Barney co op outlet store. They were debating whether to get it and after a good 20 mins they purchased them. the girl was like you should really get it, let's just do it, treat yourself, and the guy was like ok, let's do it. they looked nervous, and elated at the same time.
Wow, I guess people still do purchase some things at or near retail for these types of items.

I saw a limited edition Blue Lable cask strenght bottle go for about Â£2500 retail in the shop.

this is just cask strength, no actual blend difference.

normal blue lable is Â£160

keep in mind, it tase exactly the same, one is just a higher alcohol content and a 'limited' run.

nope, it was retail, so straight from the manufacturer.

it was made for the Asian market and it was an Asian who bought it.

Several years ago I guy I work with dragged me to look at a Rolex Submariner. He's full of **** to begin with, so after trying it on he says nonchalantly to me in front of the salesman, "So ya think I should get it?" I say "sure, why not" to which he pulls out a new credit card and puts $4300 on it.

He already owes a ton of money and has no business buying it, but he did it anyway. About a year later he declares bankruptcy.

flash forward several more years and he drags me shopping again. His wife immediately destroys any credit cards sent in the mail, but one slips through. we are at borelli and within five minutes he has two white shirts on the register and the total is around $900. He catches a break because Borelli doesn't accept Discover.

Sure, he's a moron-but he keeps me in stitches.

I didn't stay long enough to see how many suits they were buying but I was amazed by the lack of basic tailoring understanding displayed by Harrod's staff.

The jacket the guy was trying was minimum a size too big and the SA was banging on about how great the fit was on him.

Harrods staff get treated like absolute ****. the 'master/slave' mentality is alive and well there from what i was told by an ex employee.

no surprise they dont have a clue, even if they did they probably wouldnt give a ****.

yeah. that is all the SAs i run into. i think there is some sort of some push to have them sell something a size bigger than something fitted or the other way, because of in terms of suits, most people out there wear them out of necessity, not out of enjoyment like us. so they would be inclined to make a return or complaint in the comfort area (fitted can perhaps be translated as too tight for most people who would rather wear casual slouchwear) rather than visually incorrect looking.
