weight loss and cold

I am really cold. really cold. I don't ever remember being as cold as I am this year, although last year was pretty bad.

I've lost weight, and I am convinced that it is related. all that fat was insolating me. I have always been the guy who didn't mind the cold, no matter how cold it was.

anybody else experience similar?

GT it's normal for this to happen. A bigger concern would be a circulation problem.

you mean cold caused by circulation? yeah, thanks, that's something I didn't think of. I have a checkup next month, but I've never had any circularion or blood sugar problems. I'll mention it to the doctor.

Yes, cold because of a possible circulation problem. We aren't as young as we once were.

Problems with thermoregulation can be caused by a low functioning thyroid. I had the same problem, lost some weight and when winter came around felt cold all the time. Now I feel fine. What I ended up doing was supplementing with iodine/ kelp tablets. Iodine helps keep goiters at bay - and a goiter is a sign of a poor functioning thyroid. I suspect what happened is when loosing weight I was eating better and eating less salt, and since salt is ionized, I was not obtaining the usual amount of iodine that my thyroid wanted. Here is an article about thyroid health testing, thermoregulation, and iodine. Good luck, hope that helps. http://heartscanblog.blogspot.com/20...ectionist.html

Where I live it's quite cold, now. It could be cold where you are living. You can be cold because it's cold.

Mrs. Thomas went through weight-loss surgery a year-and-a half ago and has complained about the cold ever since. This season has been quite bad for her.

I'm just here to brighten your day!

And to make you feel even better, us mid-westeners are considered to be living in the middle of the "goiter belt." Not much iodine in the ground around here.

Even more reasons why I really need to move to Florida soon!

Which is likely the real issue - because you had your own insulation, you didn't learn how to dress properly for a Chicago winter. Get a decent coat and some gloves, maybe wear a sweater, you'll be fine.

I have heard 3 people from my doorman, an old friend, and a college professor (all in chicago), complain about this. All three of them have lost significant weight, and they all say they've never felt this cold.
