New York Michelin Starred Restaurants - Page 4

EMP got off easy, current NYT critic panned their new menu as gimmicky and out-of-touch but did not do so in a formal review therefore allowing them to hang onto their current **** rating. Was basically a warning shot.

What logical connection does the NYT have with the red book?

I'll be in NYC in december with my girlfriend. Would love a suggestion for a cozy romantic place for dinner. We'll be staying in the upper west side.

Would dovetail fit the bill?

I love browsing the EMP book for the beautiful photos; shame the food wasn't that great when I went. If you google EMP the photos mostly depict delicious looking food but I went in the middle of summer and the plates seemed to fall a bit short.

Went to Kajitsu tonight. I was pleasantly surprised with the vegetarian, 8-course tasting menu. The serenity of the interior, the freshly grated wasabi, attention to detail, and clean flavors gave me a Michelin-vibe. I admit the number of starred restaurants in NYC seems a little silly, but this one seemed fair to me.

Was it the undercooked pea?

weird ideas that were executed just fine but poor in concept. surely you remember Manton and I discussing it.
I do. I don't know which would be worse. A weird idea executed well, or a good idea executed poorly. Maybe a weird idea executed weirdly.
Now that's an idea in food.
