Pete Carroll leaving USC for Seahawks - Page 5

Hopefully Reggie Bush loses his Heisman as a result of this. No way does he deserve to keep that, if he was ineligible all along. Glad to see USC finally held accountable for their cheating, but it's a shame that 98% of the players who didn't do anything wrong are punished as well. Bush/Carroll come out looking like total assholes. The program will be in the toilet for the next 5+ years. Kiffin's probably wishing he stayed at Tennessee.

I don't think anyone is going to be left out in the cold. Per Scout.com, everyone in the class of 2011 who verballed to USC has multiple offers from BCS conference schools. Woods, Wittek, Kessler, Blackwell, and Madden have all stated that they are sticking with USC. Anyone with an outstanding offer who didn't verbal early was likely waiting for the NCAA ruling, and it looks like all of the outstanding USC offers are with 3-star or higher players with multiple offers.

Here's the USC 2011 verbal commit list:

DeAnthony Thomas, CB, Crenshaw HS (Los Angeles). Soft verbal to USC. Offers from USC, Washington, Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Texas, UCLA.

Cody Kessler, QB, Centennial HS (Bakersfield, CA). Offers from USC, Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Cal, Fresno State, Nebraska, Oregon State, Pittsburgh, UCLA, Washington.

Tre Madden, OLB, Mission Viejo HS. Offers from USC, Arizona State, Nebraska, Washington.

Victor Blackwell, WR, Mater Dei HS (Santa Ana, CA). Offers from USC, Arizona State, Cal, Notre Dame, Oregon State, UCLA, Washington.

Jalen Grimble, DE, Bishop Gorman HS (Las Vegas). Offers from USC, Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Louisville, LSU, Miami (FL), Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas Tech, UCLA, UNLV, Utah, Vanderbilt, Washington.

Max Wittek, QB, Mater Dei HS (Santa Ana, CA). Offers from USC, Arizona, Arizona State, California, Clemson, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Illinois, Nebraska, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oregon State, South Carolina, UCLA.

Antwaun Woods, DT/OG, Taft HS (Woodland Hills, CA). Offers from USC, Arizona, Cal, Florida, Tennessee, UCLA, Washington.

The USC beat writer for the LA Daily News blogged that the NCAA has confirmed that current USC juniors and seniors (most of whom committed before the Reggie Bush story really broke) can transfer without sitting out for a year, without getting a release.

These blue chip recruits are still going to be playing at USC, which is essentially L.A.'s pro football team. They will still get a lot of television time, and they will also get the same amount of access and analysis by pro scouts, which, in the long run, is what's most important to those players who have the highest chances of going pro. Of course, I'm speaking of the kids who keep a schollie from USC. Otherwise, they will need to go elsewhere to get their chance to play ball for free.

1. How do you get "cheating" out of this situation? None of these events influenced Bush's decision to play for USC, nor did they impact the play on the field.

2. Your second point is right on: this sanction will only penalize others who had nothing to do with it. And this sanction does nothing to stop future athletes from taking handouts, but it might help schools to have more oversight into their players' personal lives.... a route which I'm not comfortable with anyways

May all the dead loved ones of any USC fans be found with penises in their mouths. That is all.

They've pretty much been doing this since the issue broke 4 years ago.

He was uninvited from being on the sidelines for the Rose Bowl a few years ago.

This is good to know, I wasn't aware of this. Good move by USC.

if he ends up coaching lebron then falls into the sexual clutches of lebron's mom. lebron freaks and breaks mentally and then man rapes calipari as revenge. i have a feeling people wouldn't be too sad for calipari if he got man raped by lebron.

Calipari is considering leaving Kentucky? I hadn't heard this.
