Leno's monologues on the Tonight Show were so fucking painfully unfunny, and it was also a very unclassy move for him to take that 10:00 slot after saying that he was retiring and passing the reigns on to Conan. They already screwed Conan over by giving Leno that 10:00 slot, but I am sure it will get worse from here.

Fact check: Leno didn't voluntarily leave the Tonight Show; NBC was afraid (for some reason) they were going to lose Conan, so they pushed Jay out.

I don't find him as clever as he used to be. I enjoy Conan's monologue. Last I heard, Leno will be taking the 11.30-midnight slot, with Conan going from midnight - 1am. Leno should just retire already.

How does Jimmy Fallon play into all this??

That guy makes Fail seem like positive territory.

Fallon falls into the "totally expendable" clause.

maybe they should just get rid of late night talk shows altogether? and just replace it with some worthwhile programming .

i equate these talk shows to french fries and soda. unnecessary time waster (empty calories) , you dont really get anything out of watching it instead of mindless 'entertainment', makes people stay up for no reason later than they should, making people not able to get up in the mornings causing more calling in sick, laziness, etc

Just fire Jay and let Conan get a chance to actually host the show, without people constantly comparing him to Jay. Does anyone think Jay would have stod any chance in 1992, if NBC had also given Johnny Carson his own show? Of course not.

I get that they dont what to get rid of Leno, as he is still doing better than Conan, but if Conan is ever going to do better, Jay needs to go completely. Of at least scaled down. Insted of filling it with crappy comedians runing around doing stupid things, maybe just concentrate on 1 or 2 original leno shows a week...

I think you've found the problem here.

Which is why you'll find me at late night tuned into to either Vince or Harv, never Conan or Leno.

A bit before my time, but what exactly was the deal behind Arsenio's boot from Fox? Was he actually good?

I miss the campiness Conan had during late nite. He's not hitting his crowd anymore.

It's Bush's fault.

No.
Not even close.

His one bright shining moment was when then-candidate Bill Clinton laid down some pretty respectable sax chops on this program.

Aside from that, pretty much Meh.
