NBC is getting what it deserves for shafting Letterman years ago.

If Leno gets back his old slot, I wonder how many millions Conan will get for walking? He just bought that huge house, etc.

While I haven't watched either in years, I thought Conan was good for his "crappy" late-night show. Moving his type of comedy to the premier show didn't make any sense to me at all. But one thing that's struck me is this: NBC now has too many of these shows on to begin with. Who watches that many hours of night-time talk show?

Viewers, even in the age of remote control, are inherently lazy: they seldom change channels when entertainment programming ends and the local news begins. People who used to just leave on NBC and watch that news are now on a different channel.

Good riddance of Jay from the 10pm spot. But there's no mention of NBC's plan for the 10pm slot, hope it'll put the dramas back. I don't watch late talk shows often but I much prefer Letterman.

NBC already ordered 18 pilots for the new season, so it sounds like they're moving back toward scripted programming.

Most people don't have preference for their 11pm local newscasts, so whatever channels they're watching before stay on into the 11pm slot.

Usually bad economy helps TV ratings and box office. TVs & movies are much cheaper alternatives than dining out, clubbing, shopping, and live theater...
