PS3 vs. Xbox 360... which to go with

Back in the market for a video game system. Bought a 360 quite a ways back and sold it. Want to buy another system this week but not sure which to go with. Strongly leaning toward the PS3 slim 120gb right now.

Seems like the PS3 has caught up with (or maybe passed) the 360 with great games. The main reason I went with the 360 prior was because of game selection. What do ya'll think? PS3?

Have a ps3. Don't really have any games. It's mainly a blu-ray player for me. It's going to support 3D blu-rays fwiw.

yeah the blu-ray player is a major plus for me, just saw my first blu-ray on a 1080p at a friends house last night and it was quite amazing, I am sure some of it was placebo effect but it was still cool to watch.

XBOX is a nice toy but you have to pay for XBOX Live and don't get the blu-ray capabilities.

Get the XBOX if you:
A) like inferior goods
B) are getting paid for owning it
C) are retarded
D) All of the above

I like the PS3

Online access for PS3 is free. Xbox live is subscription-based for most of the better features (including Netflix and multiplayer). I use Netflix a lot on my PS3, so that would be a deal breaker. Plus, as stated above, the PS3 is a Blu-Ray player.

It was a non-decision for me: PS3 all the way.

If you want a gaming machine, 360 is the way to go.

I, as well own all 3.

Ive been playing the PS3 the most lately. Also Im not a fan of the 360s controller it seems too bulky for my puny girly hands.

why do you say that? I could understand maybe a year+ ago when the games for PS3 sucked but they seem to currently be on par if not better now. Besides game selection is there any other reason 360 would be considered the gaming machine? I know the online gaming is a bit easier to work with.

^ The 360 still has a better selection, and more importantly, the XBox Live online service and community, perhaps because of the fees, are far superior than the PSN counterparts.

I say that as a PS3 owner.

I have both the 360 and the PS3. I just got the PS3 this month and so far, apart from the Blu Ray player, the 360 wins hands down. The games look better to me and the controls feel better as well. There are only a few games that are unique to each system so that may be a factor for you. The online experience for the 360 is unanimously better than the PS3 AND one of the major pluses for the PS3, the free online service MAY be for a fee in the very near future. The interface is cleaner for the 360 in my opinion as well. Bottom line: If you want a Blu ray player and occasional game play, PS3 . . .If you want to play games primarily, 360. Oh, almost forgot, the main reason I bought PS3 aside from the Blu Ray player, was to play online with my friends who have the PS3. This is a HUGE factor for me as well.

If you like online play, 360 is a no brainer. Yes, you have to pay for XBox Live, but at the cost of less than a game a year you get a vastly superior service. There is zero comparison between the online community of both systems for, say, Modern Warfare 2.

I'm not sure how you get the impression the PS3 has better games...I would love to play the Uncharteds and Demon's Souls, but XBox still has a huge edge...

PS3 is a nicer machine, has bluray, and if your friends are on it the community is passable. But if you want to play games, get an XBox.

My ps3 is great, i've had it for about five months now and if i had the chance to pick again, i'd still pick the ps3
